Exhibition Information

This summer, the 'ASYAAF & Hidden artists Festival' will open its thirteenth door at the Hongik Museum of Art.

The 2020 ASYAAF & Hidden artists Festival, co-hosted by the Chosun Ilbo and Hongik Museum of Art, will be held from July 21 to August 16 at the Hongik Museum of Art.

The ASYAAF, which started its first exhibition at the former Seoul Station in 2008, has achieved remarkable results over the past 12 years, selling 7,700 works with about 370,000 visitors. It has been an opportunity for visitors to purchase works by potential artists at a low price, and a venue for artists to check their potential as full-time artists and receive support for exhibition space as artists. In particular, it is a remarkable exhibition for both men and women, especially in that university student writers can simultaneously view fresh and experimental works and the deeper world of works by hidden artists.

The participating artists, announced on June 9, were selected through screening by a panel of judges composed of renowned art figures in Korea. 400 writers under the age of 35 at home and abroad were selected for the "ASYAAF" category, while a total of 100 people were selected for the "Hidden Artists" supported by writers over the age of 36 years old. Among the selected participating artists, a total of 50 overseas artists will participate from all over Asia, including Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, The Philippines and Taiwan.
The "Hongik Museum of Art", where the ASYAAF will be held this year, is a sacred place for young artists with the highest accessibility, and it has been very popular, recording 40,000 visitors (a daily average of 1,600) for 24 days during the 2011 ASYAAF event. After the exhibition, the company will diversify its sales channels so that permanent sales can take place online, and the "100,000 won prop exhibition" will be held, which drew keen attention from ASYAAF. 'The 100,000 won prop exhibition', which was a great opportunity to purchase high-quality works by participating artists at a low price, has set 100 percent sold-out record. It is expected that visitors who want to purchase 100,000 won worth of works will not be cut off this year.

The works on display are described and purchased through the Student Art Manager(SAM) in the exhibition hall. The student art manager guides visitors to the exhibition hall, explains the artist and works, and consults with visitors on the purchase of the works. ASYAAF will be a good opportunity to see the future of Korean art by introducing talented and passionate works, while also offering hands-on training opportunities for art dealers and curators.
