  • The Gwangju Museum of Art (Jeon Seung-bo, director) will host the 19th Ha Jung-woong Youth Writers Invitation Exhibition from June 5 to August 25. The opening ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on June 11 at the Ha Jung-woong Museum of Art in the annex of the Gwangju Museum of Art. Ha Jung-woong Youth Writers' Invitation Exhibition, which celebrates the 19th anniversary of the Gwangju Museum of Art's honorary director Ha Jung-woong, has selected young artists under the age of 45 who have been actively engaged in works at home and abroad in an exhibition that began in 2001 to foster the discovery of young artists. The authors chosen in the "Light 2019" contest for the young writer Ha Jung-woong are Lee Jung-ki (Gwangju), Lee Won-kyung (Daejeon), Lim Bong-ho (Busan), and Shin Joon-min (Daegu). The selection of writers was made after receiving recommendations from local public art galleries for experimental and creative writers and holding seminars to discuss the world of artists' works. In particular, the museum has been selecting artists under the age of 45 who are not limited to Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, but are active throughout the country through various genres to discover young artists who will be the main players of future Korean art. Lee Jung-ki, a Gwangju native, captures a moment of history that has disappeared into the past through his portrait, and shows it as a work of art by borrowing the form of a relic of the times. Daejeon on the basis of activities, which has been creating unique features and is knitting from aluminum with writer iwongyeong a writer. The ambiguous figures of those who cannot be clearly defined create a variety of interpretations and imaginations, constantly expanding thinking. Busan's writer Lim Bong-ho has produced works that subvert the meaning of language defined or stuck in society, including flat, video and installation. It raises questions about what we have seen and believed in, or about existing perceptions, and elicits empathy so that we can see the phenomenon from a different perspective. Daegu's writer Shin Joon-min has been interested in changing spaces and environments that are lost and created by human needs, especially the contradictions that overlap the space in memory and the current space by observing zoos and baseball fields over the past few years. The repetition of time, creation and extinction, and cooperation in modern society, guide the appearance of human society into the world of painting. "The exhibition 'Light 2019' is designed to promote the discovery of young artists," said Jeon Seung-bo, director of the Gwangju Museum of Art. In addition, the Ha Jung-woong Museum of Art, which is affiliated with the Gwangju Museum of Art, plans to invite participating artists and critics during the exhibition to have a "meeting with authors" session to talk and communicate with them.
