Exhibition Information
The salon style hanging of art can be taken as a symbolic necessity of inclusion. Factually it is well-established device of the western art world, originating in Paris in 1667 at the renowned Royal Academy in Paris, it began as a necessity of inclusion. Korean contemporary art despite its best efforts has long been in the shadows of the majority. Notably in NYC at the Metropolitan Museum of Art the sections for Korea are decisively abbreviated in comparison to Chinese and Japanese representation. Korea stands still at the precipice of its own becoming, no more evident than the artists who work and live in the rising energy and atmosphere of the K-pop revolution. While Korean culture has made huge strides in its development of the popular culture of media of music, fashion and technology, it is in fact the culture of fine art that separates the recognition and reputation of countries. Clearly the art market defines the art capitols of the day, however it is thru the energy of collectors and the willingness of families to support the art that is being made now that has led to the recognition of far fewer countries on the global scene. To this end Space XX and Union art in collaboration with Uart space is extremely pleased to present a long overdue presentation of the artists who have made strides at global recognition via 3 extremely successful exhibitions presented at Christies contemporary sales. We are very pleased to present a new exhibition of contemporary art, which furthers the evolution of the development and establishment of Korean artists who have been fighting and recording the essential art that comes from the contemporary now. Please come to support the art which has become the essential energy that represents the long overdue recognition of Korean contemporary art that is living and breathing today in the families and friends of all of us.
