Exhibition Information
To recall the 150th anniversary of the periodic table of the elements, exhibition is designed to provide various experiences of various characteristics of elements, which are the basic components making up materials, and the areas of use. A chemist from Russia, Mendeleev, presented periodic table of elements in 1869 and is considered to have made rapid progress in modern chemistry. He investigated periodic law, a phenomenon in which elements of similar chemical properties appear periodically, and made it possible to predict substances scientifically. ‘Element! said Mendeleev!’exhibition is consisted of 4 parts, the periodic table of 150 years old, the periodic table in daily life, elements necessary for life and carbon allotrope. Audiences can look at the history of the periodic table for 150 years and see how the elements are used in science, technology, and industry. Allotrope is the thing composed with same element but have other properties like lead and diamond. You can feel the weight of the car door made up of carbon allotrope and experience technology that allows lighter and more durable than in the past. In addition, you can also understand the periodic table through a element block stacking game. “All materials, including our bodies, are made of elements,” said Ko Hyun-sook, director of the Busan National Science Museum. “I hope this exhibition be a change where children can realize the joy of the world made of elements.”
