Exhibition Information
We seek to explore new ways of thinking about matter and space by visualizing the back of perceptual methods through experiments with media transformation of digital images and conflicting properties of materials. <Images Out of the Snow> began with the generalization of digital media usage and the recognition of materials and space as a medium for `images'. The virtual world, which consists of one aspect of a screen, is closely embedded in everyday life, making it difficult to face the boundaries of image aggregates. On the other hand, materials are structures of components that cannot be reproduced, reduced, enlarged, or cut as simply as images. Substances have unique characteristics that cannot be replaced because they cannot be expanded to the same material, but exist in completely different structures and mechanisms. When crossing and crossing these conflicting worlds, the image becomes materialized again and the material is de-materialized again, resulting in a material event converging the properties of the two worlds. For example, images of cross sections present a new area of images that have not been visible using micro-lens, with strength and weight to support the shape. <Image Out of the Eye> contains the meaning of transition to a sensory mind other than feeling a substance out of the screen in a limited state, as seen in an image. Just as the scene in the play switches, we want to urge self-reliance sensory actions that reveal the background of the perception method and find what is real through media conversion experiments between the two media.
