Born in Seoul in 1936, Kim Hyung Dae graduated from the Department of Painting at Seoul National University of Art and the Department of Art Education at Yonsei University. She participated in a number of international exhibitions, including 9 individual exhibitions, the Lubuliana International Panhwa Biennale, Korean Modern art, and the 50th Anniversary of Korean Contemporary art. She is currently a professor of Western painting at the Ewha Woman's University.
The basis of Kim Hyung-dae's work is a Korean tradition that grows and is eye-catching. Instead of recreating the visible reality, it expresses 'awareness' or 'feeling' by indirectly recreating its reality and atmosphere through the abstractions of modern contexts, another Korean fault.
Received an award, Chairman's Award of the National Reconstruction Supreme Council.
