Exhibition Information
Gana Art presents works by eight Korean master artists who have focused on various methods of expression, materials, and subject matter, as well as abstraction and figuration and highlight on color and tone. In Space I, works by Yungnam Park(b.1949-) who expresses wide-ranging colors through use of fingers and Myoungwook Huh(b.1966-) who applies the traditional material ‘ott’ as a major painting tool are exhibited. In Space II, works by the pioneer of Korean minimalist sculpture Suk Won Park(b.1942-) and Sufan Oh(b.1946-), a painter who reinterprets the tradition of Korean painting are presented. Lastly, in Space III, artworks by Jaegil Woo(b.1942-), a color abstraction painter with focus on light, Oksang Lim(b.1950-), an artist representative of Korean folk painting, Jonggu Kim(b.1963-) who utilizes metal as an artistic tool, and Unsung Han(b.1946-), a master of realist still life paintings are introduced. Each work not only showcases its visual beauty, but also holds art historical significance in that it implies various aspects of Korean contemporary art. Gana Art would like to present various works by the above-mentioned eight artists to both open up an artistic forum for one to contemplate on the diversity and possibility of contemporary art, and to enjoy the sensibility of this fall.
