Exhibition Information
The Arts and Futures Center will hold a personal recital of Ricky from March 1 to April 28. Ricky (b. 1978) was born in Hong Kong and is currently living in Taipei and continuing his work. After studying traditional paintings, they present a complex set-up that combines video, drawing, light, and sometimes popular music. His installation, which frequently uses ordinary everyday objects such as table beams, curtains, and bowls, and starts from attention to daily experiences and emotions, seems at a glance calm and serene, but it is also a critical incarnation of latent tension and contradictions in modern daily life. This book, "Resonance of a Sad Smile," is based on what the writer felt during his visit to Seoul over the past few years as his first private exhibition in Korea. Unraveling the ideas of the city's daily life, people, and history, most consist of new works made for the exhibition. In 2013, he was a representative writer of the Hong Kong Museum at the Venice Biennale and recently held individual exhibitions at the Hara Art Museum in Tokyo (2018), OCAT Shenzen (2018), and SMAK Gent (2017) and participated in group competitions at Walker Art Center, New Museum and Tate Modern. Meanwhile, the exhibition opening reception will be held on the second and third floors of the Art Shipbuilding Center at 6 p.m. on February 28, 2019. Starting with the individual recits in 2019, the Arts & Futures Center will hold a variety of exhibitions with outstanding young and middle-aged writers from home and abroad. A private exhibition of Jeon Dong-hee and Kim Hee-cheon will be held in July and November respectively, and an exchange and planning exhibition of the Kunsthal Orhus will be held at the end of September to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korea-Denmark relationship.
