Exhibition Information
The Sewol ferry disaster shook not only our thoughts about the nation and the disaster, but also the entire sense. Ordinary things, colors, people and events that we've always seen are starting to look different, and from candlelight vigils, we've changed our view of other political underdogs. The Sewol ferry was an event that made us feel like ourselves, and even more, it made the world we knew a whole different place. It was not a ship but the whole sea, and it made the people who looked at the sea become the sea. The exhibition is titled "Let's not end the discussion of the Sewol ferry disaster with short condolences, but carry on with a long effort to change the world." With the fifth anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster, the exhibition seeks to start from embodying the sense that the Sewol has shaken, although there are still large and heavy tasks left to be identified: truth and untreators and healers. Such a sense has been something that artists have been forced to reveal since the disaster, and it will continue to be a basic starting point for resisting oblivion and asking questions left behind by the Sewol.
