Exhibition Information
After the onset of the pandemic and social distancing policies, many started to discuss the loss of connections between people. Due to most of the physical interactions being put to a halt, many deem that the internet and the online digital world will be the strongest platform to connect people and thus withhold solidarity within the community. This is the new normal. However, between each human, especially in such events where interactions are reduced to texts, sound signals and blurry images, are these connections enough? This exhibition traverses the idea that simply interacting online is, mostly, insufficient to hold humans together. Rebounding is needed. Rebounding is action and movement; to throw and recoil energy back and forth. It is to truly look at each other, to imitate, extrapolate, create and exchange. Under the notion of deconstructionism, the artworks displayed in Re;bounding are all related. One piece’s dismantled imagery alludes, motions and reflects imagery in another piece, and in another piece, and another, to create a massive inertia and flow between all within the space.
