Exhibition Information
Faces of Epiphany features a selection of figurative paintings and mixed media work by Seoyoung Je. Her work explores the association between the identity and the ethos of the home. Extracted from the private world of family, childhood, and a peripatetic lifestyle, they offer a unique perspective of a collective, shared experience. As the most primitive and distinctive agency of our lives, our home accommodates dual natures such as joy and sorrow, assurance and vulnerability, the permanent and transient, the old and contemporary. It expands our perception and the scope of our world. These dichotomies and the enduring truths of the home permeate the painted figures and the spaces they occupy. The visual dialogues beckon the viewers to occupy the space themselves, in the context of their home, and examine how much of home we have absorbed or simply find innate within us.
