Exhibition Information
Simultaneous media art is being activated with the development of computer technology. This enables instant communication and the creation and spread of images, creatures and the environment. And allows accelerated processes such as development, cloning, and the death of artificial life forms. On the complexities of culture and new media, Media Art evolved the creative process by moving from material to data and from target to flow. Nevertheless, in the area of media art, only process, communication and interaction have been embodied, and science and technology, the source of their conceptual actions, or aesthetic medium, have not been sufficiently harmonized or emphasized. Thus, perhaps in the art space, the discussion will continue by conducting a private exhibition of <Ça dépend(Padébé) by author Jung Seung, which focuses on the changing aesthetic perception and the development of technology. The exhibition centers on four development parts (robotic/artificial intelligence, 3D printer development, interactive animation, and audio visual/promance) under way through collaboration with engineers and scientists for the production of the "Prometheus String" series, which uses information about life-building environments to create digital sculpture works. Each development process that the author started with "Living Sculpture" is not a history of technological advancement, but a suggestion by the author about the new structure of the "view method" and the cognitive system. Jeongseung creates a database by extracting information (light, temperature/humidity, UV, plant size, ambient sound, and movement) related to the growing process of the specified plant, taking into account the latitude and longitude of the art space and the locality of the area (humanities, history, social issues, etc.). This information is digitized in computer language and visualized into stereoscopic media sculpture works using 3D printers during plant breeding cycles. French "Ça dépend," which is "It Depends on," encapsulates the concept of process-oriented art and multidisciplinary interplay derived from Jung's "The String of Prometheus" series. Natural processes, environmental reactions, time and space, and human behavior exist as interfaces in the process of constructing a work, while intervening countless times in the abstracting of images. Expressions are not inherent in or preceded by information/technology, but rather are made possible and induced by each information/technology. That is why works are more important than results and their images are defined through ambiguity and imperfection. Rather than being a fixed, autonomous object, it is a process that is evolving according to each information. In addition, each intervention process allows the actual space to exist as a continuum of organisms. The information that follows is freely combined and interlinked with other sensory information and expands its potential as an interface. The author is exploring the boundaries between natural and artificial, discovering the potential of technology that has not been revealed in the engineering realm, while attempting to popularize the social implications of media art. The author's understanding of nature, which began with the theory that "space is perhaps filled with innumerable information," and led to the notion of "continuity of conveying information about the material nature of life" in space, is translated into a question of differences between virtual and material, re-constrained space. Through various media experiments such as robotics, 3D printer development, interactive animation video and performance using audio visuals, Jung Seung tests the natural encounter of real space and image space. The encryption of information that visitors face in space and its decoding process are transformed into new image operating factors, creating a time-flow in non-daily experiences. Amid these changes, nature and sculpture, and the objectified awards of artists and visitors will all change, and our concept of "viewing style" will become much wider and new. Writing.
