Space K Seoul, Kolon group’s art and culture sharing space, is proud to present a solo exhibition by Lee Keunmin to open the new year of 2022. Titled ‘And then none were sick,’ it introduces 20 paintings along with drawings that focus on the artist’s pathological experiences. Since he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2001, Lee Keunmin has continued to materialize raw hallucinations as art. These attempts are revealed on the canvas as fragmented bodies, organs, and metaphorical shapes that are not quite easily fathomable. Behind the splendid images of visions and illusions that dominate the canvas, the artist criticizes society’s norms and systems for diagnosing and controlling pathological signs. His paintings attempt to recover the scars made by the violence of dichotomous nature that separates normal and abnormal, rational and irrational, logic and absurdity, sharing self-healing and self-consolation with the viewers through the desperate landscape of his mind.
