Exhibition Information
I put on the canvas as if listing visual elements conceived from cartoon images, toys, advertisements, imaginary persons, and popular culture encompassing art history. Identifiable images pass by as if they were not related to each other, drawing a simultaneous equilibrium world landscape that is continuous, discontinuous, coexisting, and disconnected in the media environment. This shows how images structure our lives and consciousness. Between my painting and painting, and also within a single painting, several non-unified drawing styles are flatly attached, but between them, a heterogeneous sense of perspective occurs like a sticker and an object on which it is attached. If the classical sense of perspective is embodied in a picture as a distance generated from a single point of view, the parallelism of this heterogeneous image is a perspective that represents the sense of distance in the era of disappearance of the vanishing point. One canvas is no longer a single space viewed from one perspective. The sense of space created by today's image is a playground for dynamics in which multiple gazes are intertwined and intersected.
