Exhibition Information
This exhibition aims to explore the correlation between art, the environment, nature, and humans. This exhibition doesn’t intend to preach grandiose warnings and lessons that must be learned. Rather, in addition to reflecting on lost values, it looks back on the paradoxical reality facing humans who have raced toward relentless development and desires. In particular, this exhibition showcases artworks created to give voice to the reality of Jeju nature in which artificiality and nature are mixed. Through the language of art we intend to raise fundamental questions about the meaning of life; about the boundary between nature and artificiality; and about the boundary between life and death. At the present time, as the paradigm shifts toward an ecological global outlook, the balance hasn’t been restored between nature and artificiality. Furthermore, the artificial environment reigns over nature which has resulted in changes to the lives of all living things. This reality teaches us the lesson that the fluxional survival methods of natural objects such as circulation, organic operations, and evolution are sustainable only through harmonious coexistence with humans. The three artists who participate in this exhibition have lyrically captured the value of Jeju nature, analytically looked at Jeju nature, or identified the spots at which it is being destroyed. Hopefully, this exhibition will provide the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of coexistence between nature and humans.
