Exhibition Information

			<Sound Wall>, consisting of two works <Sound Wall> and <Sound Slope>, is a work based on Hangul (Korean Alphabet) by Tacit Group. Tacit Group has been working on projects themed around Hangul; <Sound Wall> uses the following characteristics of Hangul: geometric properties (square, circle, straight line, etc.), architectural properties (combination of the initial consonant, medial vowel and final consonant) and phonetic properties (letters sound the way they appear). The letters in the works were used as a communication medium of meaning and the principle of making sounds. The work explores letters not only through semantic communication but also as a system of conveying artistic inspiration.

Each of the two works are displayed on the Media Wall and the Media Cube under the titles of <Sound Wall> and <Sound Slope>. Sharing the gist of the works, the performance <tacit.perform[ㄱㅈㄴㅁㅇ]> utilizes the structural characteristics of the Media Wall and the Media Cube. These works are all interactive audio-visual arts where the sounds and visuals are created through the letters the audience enter.
