Perrotin Seoul is pleased to present A Canker in the Leaf,
Matthew Ronay’s first solo exhibition in Korea. Ronay presents seven new sculptures conceived in the artist’s signature material of polychromed basswood prepared through the process of hand-carving and dyeing.
The suite of new sculptures was conceived with stages of reflections including those upon the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892 – 1950), one of which a line is eponymous with the show title A Canker in the Leaf. The artist elaborates this process below:
