Exhibition Information
Natalie Westbrook’s works are based on the relationship between the human body and natural world. In this exhibition, Westbrook presents 17 new works and a new video collaboration with artist Johannes Deyoung. Join us with the sound work, a digital extension of her drawings and her works full of life and energy. We are captivated by the aesthetic contention when our eyes penetrate nature. Yet the intersection between nature and human may be an unanswered and one directional courtship. The artist invites and observes this nature that is so mysterious into her subconsciousness. Her visual explosion in juxtaposition with the insights of human society is an expression of strong colors and diverse methodologies. It surrounds our perception like how the organic movements of nature grow infinitely. As it grows, we realize the eyes meet beyond what is seemingly there through its own reflection. Thus her works become a mirror to our reality and a window into another space. With order, there is chaos. In chaos, there exists a certain order. The confusion within chaos gives us a sense of isolation but beyond that, we must grasp hold of the sublime of the great Mother Nature. Gong Ye Seul, EM (Source = EM Gallery)
