Exhibition Information
EM presents Polish born artist Michael Slusakowicz this June. ‘The Serpent's Curse’ with its mysterious title, is an extension of the artist's exploration of his passion and interest in color and mood. He presents his bold and honest aesthetic approach with a series of 18 works. The works consist of repeated geometric forms and opposing colors creating a sense of irrationally balanced mood. This arouses edited sequence shots of sceneries that live deep within his unconsciousness. The artist doesn’t interpret but rather follows his natural creativity without questioning and simply embracing. It creates a sensation of scattered past and beliefs like one is tracing a traceless path of a snake in his composition of dispersion left behind like the snake’s shed skin. The encounters that seem more inevitable than simply coincidental reject dualistic logic, deconstructs prejudices and gives an eerie unfamiliarity with a presence of a third person within. The artist’s works of self will and continuity only hints you of a place where meaning exists rather than directly stating what it means by interacting with the viewers. I hope the viewers have a moment to reminisce their own personal experience from the collected memories of imperfect perfection. Gong Ye Seul, EM (Source = EM Gallery)
