Exhibition Information

			This year’s Frieze Film 2023 It was the way of walking through narrative sheds light on the narrativity of the video(film) as a kind of methodology for excavation. This archaeological term ‘excavation’ refers to discovering or exposing narratives which are eliminated or omitted from the official records today such as history, manipulated images on media, and so on. Eventually it discloses narratives that exist under the superficial level of today’s phenomenon, in the imaginary and alternative level.

Frieze Film 2023 introduces fourteen artists – AN Jungju, BAEK Heaven Hyeonju, Omyo CHO, HAN Uri, HONG LEE Hyun-Sook, JUN Sojung, KIM Daum, KIM Hyojae, KWAK So Jin, LEE Eunhee, Moojin Brothers, NAM Hwayeon, PARK Sunmin, PYO Minhong – based in Seoul and their video works, and will be activated in numbers of independent / non-profit spaces with the works scattered and weaved together in specific categories. By traversing non-linearly between time and space based on artworks’ own narratives, the artworks aim to dismantle, rearrange, and combine diverse memories and experiences to present new narratives and perspectives. This year’s Frieze Film expects audiences to discover the unique language of film in art itself and, furthermore, to sense another layer of the world we are living in by walking through narratives.
