Exhibition Information

			The Trinity Gallery presents the second solo exhibition of Korea's eminent drag artist, Nanayoungrong Kim. The exhibition, <NA, 나>*, will grace our gallery from November 2nd to the 15th. Just as with the debut exhibition, every aspect of <NA, 나>, from its overarching concept to the styling and model selection, has been directed by the artist himself, Nanayoungrong Kim. The photograph in this exhibition are brought to life through the creative synergy of NOVVKIM, Yezoi Hwang, and Kim mumU. <NA, 나> serves as a vessel for the artist's daring exploration of the very concept of "나(me)" through the unique artistic language of Nanayoungrong Kim's drag expression. The exhibition is divided into two chapters: "The Persona Prism" and "NANA Character Energy."
 
In the first chapter, "The Persona Prism," the word "persona," derived from Latin, means a "mask." In the drag culture, "persona" takes on a profound dimension, signifying not only "a symbol of another self" but also "the unbridled eruption of an artist's untamed creative passions." Within this chapter, Nanayoungrong Kim sets his drag persona as "나(me)," and "나" alone. Just as a beam of light splits into a spectrum of colors when it passes through a prism, Nanayoungrong Kim reveals the vibrant shades of his true self shining brilliantly behind his drag persona. Stripping away the masks society compels us to wear and standing before art that playfully validates our innermost desires and fantasies, we take a step closer to the discovery of our genuine selves.

In the second chapter, "NANA Character Energy," we explore the concept of "main character energy" – the notion of living as if you're the central character in your own universe. In today's world, where opinions and judgments from others are quantified in real-time, people often lose their way and succumb to anxiety, falling in line with the crowd. In this chapter, Nanayoungrong Kim transforms into the main character in various genres, from noir to teen, radiating a dynamic main character energy that matches the vivacity of his drag performances. "Nana Character Energy" serves as a reminder that, we are the axis of our own world.
 
Take a moment to breathe deeply and say '나(Na)'. This way you can hear your most authentic voice. Did your voice feel a bit awkward? Such moments often arise when we encounter an unfamiliar facet of ourselves. The visual delight that permeates this exhibition captures the raw and unbounded essence of Nanayoungrong Kim, unveiling the playful imaginings and bold reinterpretations that transcend conventional boundaries. <NA, 나> is a vibrant exhibition that allows viewers to bear witness to the exuberant and candid self-expression of Nanayoungrong Kim. Our hope is that it will provide an opportunity for all to reflect on the powerful energy concealed behind our individual personas.
