Exhibition Information
Rinus Van de Velde, known for his exploration of diverse mediums like painting, installation, sculpture, and video, invites audiences into a mesmerizing world where the virtual intersects with reality. This upcoming showcase features his imaginative paintings, latest drawings, and a captivating film blending autobiography and fiction. A highlight is the life-size recreation of a video set—an immersive installation offering a unique visual journey. Co-hosted by Art Sonje Center, Jeonnam Museum of Art, and Space ISU, this exhibition promises to redefine artistic boundaries. After the exhibition at ASJC and Space ISU, it’s set to enthrall patrons at Jeonnam Museum of Art, ensuring an unforgettable experience that blurs the line between reality and imagination. About the Artist Rinus Van de Velde (b.1983) Rinus Van de Velde lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. He explores circular narratives in virtual, actual and parallel universes by encompassing paintings, installations, sculptures and videos. He builds a unique artistic universe in each work based on primary historical sources such as photographs taken or collected by himself, images clipped from the media, and documentation of historical figures. In particular, the work in which a character with a similar appearance to the artist attracts the concepts of doppelgänger and parallel universe to his artistic practice and finds the expandability of paintings.
