			LUV Contemporary Art proudly presents a new collection by their exculsive artist Jackson Shim, featuring 30 new artworks from his latest series, "AIR & ROLLING ROSES." In this series, Shim explores the elusive concept of 'presence'—a sensation that is felt rather than seen, akin to the residual fragrance of roses lingering in the air.

 

Drawing inspiration from his childhood—ranging from admired objects to tales of muses, to the autobiographical cartoon characters of the Alphabet Card series—Shim's work embodies a unique blend of childlike innocence and the candid desires driven by capitalism. This duality is symbolized through recurrent motifs, such as "RR" (RICH & ROYAL), showcasing Shim's evolving artistic narrative that has captured the hearts of the public. The Alphabet Card series, with its variations like the Villains, Pink editions, and Superalloy Encyclopedias, delves into the conceptual beauty found within children's coloring books.

 

While the initial Alphabet Card series presented characters in a distinct manner, Shim's latest pieces diverge into abstraction, moving away from conventional portrayals. These works are characterized by spontaneous, vivid lines that seem to dance through the air, transforming under the artist's contemplative gaze into tangible forms. It is through stepping back and observing these surreal shapes that viewers may recognize the silhouettes of familiar characters.

 

Jackson Shim's abstract techniques, aimed at depicting intangible elements like air and scent, echo the human quest to document the microscopic world. Details such as the stain on worn leather, lines reminiscent of entangled yarn, and strokes of automatism akin to minute wall cracks, draws the viewer's attention.
