Exhibition Information
Seneka is an exhibition that begins from a place of unspeakable stories, unconfessed emotions, and the presence of silence. Rather than delivering direct narratives or clear messages, the four participating artists quietly reveal the contours of absence through lingering traces and sensory impressions. Each work approaches what cannot be said—through space, structure, and atmosphere rather than language. The term ’seneka‘ is derived from the Japanese word ’senaka (背中, せなか)‘ and is colloquially used to refer to the spine of a book. The spine conceals the content of a story while simultaneously indicating its existence. Just as not every book is opened and read, some stories remain untouched—left behind. This exhibition turns its gaze to such emotional interstices, the spaces between words, where feeling quietly resides. It is within this emptiness that sensory perception is activated.
