Exhibition Information

Kim Min Kyung's solo exhibition Stories of the Egg, presented in Hall 1, begins with the various emotions and experiences the artist encountered when facing a simple breakfast egg during her early days studying abroad in Germany. Even within Germany, where eggs are eaten differently from Korea, such as using unfamiliar tools and following different practices, the ways of using these tools and the sequence of eating also vary. The ways of eating boiled eggs give rise to their own rituals and become customs. Customs shape personal habits. Habits influence preferences, and the countless preferences in the world are shaped by others. In moments when different cultural practices collide, how can we accept and understand the Other? It is as difficult as standing an egg upright.
