Exhibition Information
Space Willing N Dealing presents <Endless World 江山無盡>, a solo exhibition by artist Jung Yongkuk, from December 20, 2025 to January 18, 2026. Jung has explored the spatial and material expansion of traditional Korean painting, creating installation works that reflect on narrative, light, space, image, and the relationship between artwork and viewer. Since 2020, he has returned to working primarily with paper and ink, focusing on painterly interpretations of time through close observation of nature. By subtly controlling the density and diffusion of ink and water, he captures nature’s shifting textures and visualizes the invisible movement of time. His practice reveals an ongoing negotiation between traditional techniques and contemporary art. Although his images appear to be drawn directly from nature, the subtle interplay of real landscapes and fictional elements gently unsettles the viewer’s perception. This approach reflects Jung’s belief that Korean painting is less about literal representation and more about expressing the observer’s inner state and gaze. In Endless World, Jung captures ever-changing natural phenomena—flowing water, drifting clouds, trembling forests, and rocks slowly eroded by time and environment. Although the images seem to hold a single moment in place, they are formed through layered variations in ink density, absorbency, and movement. Viewers encounter not a static landscape but the condensed strata of pictorial time, where countless shifts and motions accumulate within the surface.
