Exhibition Information

Gana Art Hannam is pleased to present a solo exhibition, An Sung Ha, who portrays everyday experience through ordinary objects in hyper-realistic technique. The artist attempts various experiments on the form, moving away from the conventional still-life limited to the frameworks. As she emphasizes the physical properties of the object by placing the object’s enlarged image in the center of the canvas and removing the background, viewers are able to discover the abstractness through the fundamental elements of art – point, line and face. In this way, the artist moves beyond the mere concept of “reproduction”, allowing concrete and abstract to coexist in one screen. These new works of An Sung Ha, which is unveiled in five years since 2014, is an extension of her previous works, which focuses on her personal feeling and experience acquired from the cleanness and good scents of soaps. Her hyper-realistic work is the result of her desire to capture the extended “real world,” which reflects her life just like her own diary. Thus, crossing the boundary between concrete and abstract, this exhibition is expected to be a great opportunity to experience An Sung Ha’s everyday confession.
