Exhibition Information
Emerging from the quiet contemplation of a peaceful landscape, where do we go from now? is a musing on the garden of time that is Jeungdo island, produced during a six week residency at Taepyung Salt Farm in collaboration with LampLab. The exhibition dives into the material, human and ecological realities of a slow island set in the wake of an accelerating world. Observing passing rhythms and their physical expressions in the landscape, the work draws together a constellation of ephemeral moments recording the interactions of human and more-than-human events. From the gradual crystallization of salt to the cyclical return of the tide, these are stories of dilation, contraction, erosion and confluence. Multiple narratives probe the boundaries of an invisible force, immersing us into the muddied waters of time. Tuning into an island in active conversation between nature and culture, the work seeks comfort in the here and now posing the question: where do we go from now?
