  • Marking the eighth anniversary of its opening, Yangpyeong County Museum of Art showcases 2019 Art Travel-4 and winter project MEDIACITY Exhibition inside the museum, and the 2019 Outdoor Installation Art Winter Desert WINTER DEER Exhibition outside the museum, providing a spectacle for many visitors to the museum.

The purpose of setting up a winter deer at this outdoor installation art exhibition was to capture the hope and prosperity of Yangpyeong County residents, who are opening up a new era by making their local culture as docile and flat as a deer.

Originally, deer usually live in China and Japan, including Korea. A mammal belonging to the Deer family, 90 to 130 centimeters long, 40 to 230 centimeters tall, and horn can only be seen in males, and its body color is brown and white in summer, and yellow and white in winter. These deer usually eat buds or leaves of trees in spring and summer, acorns or water trees in autumn, and the bark of trees such as rams, secret trees, and oak trees. The main habitat likes places where there are many places to hide and live in groups, usually consisting of females and cubs, and males flock together. What's unusual is that deer antlers fall out each year and turn into new ones, and branches open out to form beautiful shapes. This horn is used as a medicinal ingredient, called rust, and it also makes ornaments out of its horns.

The Yangpyeong County Museum of Art is comprised of some of the country’s leading artists who have been motivating deer to WINTER DEER, a winter deer that has been prepared with such a theme. These works presented the feeling of deer going to the museum in the middle of winter, so that visitors could enjoy the winter with them. And the works will show a variety of materials and shapes, each of them features, and the larger pieces, over 2 meters, wanted to capture life stories from the plaza in front of the museum with families who came to the museum during the winter.

In particular, we will meet with the outdoor installation art exhibition where people living in a nature-friendly environment can establish the museum as a rest area for nature. The exhibition was first attributed to the fact that Kim Woo-jin's childhood dream was to be a zookeeper, and these pieces of animals, beyond the act of sculpture itself and the meaning of life taking care of themselves, used plastic materials to capture the deer's expression. "A Deer of Hope" is an imaginary image of a deer that tries to combine images of clouds on the horns of a deer to represent the growing imagination. The painting, which depicts the scene of a dream as an image of a deer, sought to elicit imaginative dialogue between visitors and the work, which is able to communicate with each other comfortably. Writer Lee Ki-chul is a metaphor for fat pets who have been freed from their natural form due to their owner's false love, others we don't even know. They are the result of intangible violence. They are lovely pets that look round, cute and cushioned, but in fact, this bloat stems from our mettle. Their 'human' appearance, outside of their natural body shape, tells us that they are giving birth to another cynical smile in their warm exterior. In addition, author Chung Eui-ji is a series of "Re-Geneis" and "Engram," which visualizes the disappearance and loss of everyday objects that have lost their meaning of existence in their distinct work, followed by potential mental images such as regeneration or resuscitation. The series is a series of works that draw discarded everyday objects and sculpt them into animal figures through various processing.

Author Jung Chan-woo has carved a cube-shaped piece of steel to create a deer-like shape, which is another aura from the existing Stainless Steel. Particularly, the work, which shows a distant sense of depth, is enlarging the city’s perception to bring back memories of playing in nature as a child and to give it plenty of rest and rest. The work of author Cho Young-chul seems to be a wild animal that instinctively moves to an ideal place and does not hesitate in the harsh nature. In the past, humans were also nominating and eventually settling down, but humans still need to move in new ways. As various experiences and values meet through culture and art, the arduous journey eventually arrives at a satisfactory place.

The sculptures of WINTER DEER, who moved to the Yangpyeong County Museum of Art, will be a time of communion for new experiences as they meet with a visiting audience. The exhibition will be held at the outdoor plaza of the Kunlib Museum of Art in Yangpyeong through 2019.12.16, and it will be a winter installation art exhibition as long as the Kunlip Museum will experience the ecological life and nature of local residents who have been living for the eighth time this year. As such, the festival came outside to find a new cultural brand that can become a cultural and ecological space and an artistic space through installation art using natural materials.

As a result, the WINTER DEER outdoor installation art exhibition, which was held at the end of the year, was organized as an art activity to demonstrate the process of sublimating the dynamics of deer living in the natural ecosystem into art against the backdrop of Yangpyeong’s eco-friendly nature and to make Yangpyeong’s winter warmer. Therefore, the 2019 outdoor installation art "WINTER DEER Exhibition" will present walks, dreams and hopes that visitors will communicate with the works through an exhibition linked to the MEDIACITY Exhibition inside the museum, and will prepare video media for night performances and parties on the night of the opening ceremony at 6 p.m.

Finally, the Yangpyeong County Museum of Art plans to establish the 2019 outdoor installation art exhibition as a public-type cultural and art project for local residents and those traveling through Yangpyeong in winter through culture and tourism to help them establish themselves as a regional specialization exhibition project.
