Exhibition Information
Origami Universe presents the natural world of self-organization and self-similarity within the theme of the universe, time, space, and life through works incorporating electrical machinery into the analog forms of origami. The exhibit reinterprets the rules found in various natural elements and expresses them in architectural form and movement. A single material is divided and patterned, employing a three-dimensional structure of paper folding to form a curve with geometric shapes and pieces that fold and unfold by mechanical devices. Through these forms and movements, the interaction of light and darkness, the creation and extinction of life, growth and attenuation, and the process of circulation, are shaped by the constant movement and changing energy. The layout of a series of works according to the three keywords "creation," "change" and "disappearance" implies "self-similarity" through a circulating structure. ⓒ
