Since we have grown up, we don't go to zoos. You don't have much interest in animals that aren't pets. But zoos are not just objects of remembrance, they are the pure minds that we forget. The childhood mind, which was curious about all the animals in the world by looking at a big picture book, used to be complete with the memory of the first zoo that I visited with my parents' hands. But the zoo has long been moved to one side of our memory, overwhelmed by the mounting time and heavy responsibilities above our shoulders.


A zoo is a place where living animals are raised, studied, and opened to the public. The world's first zoo on record was created by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, which is also a legacy of humans with a long history of its origin. But the main role that the early zoo had was to enlighten its neighbors and its people about the power and wealth of the country, displaying rare animals that were forcibly taken from a small country.

The idea of zoos that people have may be a combination of these feelings of compassion and compassion. While there are complexities to support and oppose the system called zoos, the expectation that we can go back to that moment in time with our parents as children is also a gift from zoos.

The Seoul Museum of Art’s planning exhibition, Winter Zoo, will be a unique experience of meeting animals in a museum with similar ties, not a zoo, and thinking about various things about the zoo that we have forgotten.
