Exhibition Information
Gana Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Mari Kim(1977-) who names the image of a girl with big eyes "Eyedoll" implementing a variety of concepts. The exhibition is an extension of the "Masterpiece" series released in London in 2019, featuring her new works in homage to renowned masterpieces. Mari Kim lays emphasis on the concept of "pictorial cloning" that reflects modern trends rather than cloning for mass production, and she expands her own characters in various ways. At the same time, she tries to answer the unique questions about universal beauty and the fundamental discussion of 'artistry' raised by modern technology cloning in her way. The exhibition is noteworthy that the artist focuses more on the technique from the original renowned paintings. This resulted in taking a further step of the work’s originality which is reflected in Mari Kim's masterpiece paintings. Also, the works tell the story of the everlasting relationship and love by applying Mari Kim’s aesthetics and the technology of the present era on the renowned masterpieces. As such, the artist constantly tries to create new art in numerous methods. This exhibition will be an opportunity to show the originality of Mari Kim in various angles, which has evolved from masterpieces.
