Exhibition Information
Gallery Simon is pleased to present <In Between Five Colors>, a solo exhibition by Shin il Kim, who has been exploring the limitations of visual recognition and the new possibilities of ‘In-between-space’, from 4th June to 8th August 2020. Over the past decade or so, the artist has sought to break away from the limits of perception that objectify and categorize phenomena and has revealed them as they are. This exhibition further focuses on the space between objects and gaps. Through empty spaces, the artist shows new aspects of ordinary things, which are excluded or bounded by stereotypes from everyday visualizations. The work of pushing wastes into 3mm intervals reveals delicate colors and new energy of the things thrown away, which we have not seen before. Shin il Kim captures gaps in non-material existences such as thoughts, minds, and time as well to express changes that are not easily noticeable. In particular, the exhibition will feature interactive media works that respond to the visitors’ movements. Through this exhibition, you will have an opportunity to appreciate the aesthetics of the in-between-space shown by Shin il Kim. [Source] Gallerysimon homepage
