Exhibition Information
The project hashtag (#) is a new public offering by the National Museum of Contemporary Art and Hyundai Motor to support the next generation of creators. Hashtags (#) are mainly used to facilitate the selective classification and retrieval of information on SNS platforms, but in addition to the main information, they also serve as a means of infinite expansion of the context of information with additional explanations or original expressions. The project hashtag, aimed at diversity, scalability and openness, is aimed at supporting team projects in which creators from different fields collaborate without restrictions on genre. For the next five years, the two teams will be selected and supported every year. <Project hashtag 2020> introduces the first two selected teams, Gangnamburg and Seoul Queer Collective. Coincidentally, the two teams each proposed a project on a specific area in Seoul called Gangnam and Jongno 3-ga. The situation itself, in which a particular region compresses certain social problems, already seems to reflect some problematic reality. Stories originating in two areas that symbolize things beyond geographical space give us a sense of where we stand and where we want to go as of 2020.
