2020 Unused Space Project "Your Garden"

Do you have a garden? Having a garden would mean having someone to take time to take care of and take care of. The art museum you visited has people who manage the artwork and the place where you stand on both feet. They built a garden on the outdoor terrace on the second floor with artist Kim Yi-bak in the past few months when the art museum was closed due to Corona from late spring to autumn. Although it is a garden, it has grown crops that are more useful than ornamental flowers or plants.
While running the garden, Kim Yi-bak is the "director" who manages the garden, and participants decided to call each other by the name of their favorite plants, not by their real names. Thus, the head of the garden and the participants began their relationship as members of the garden, opening the door to conversations about crops they wanted to plant. They scuffled to take each other's first fruit and did the wrong thing first so that they wouldn't be burdened by the other person. Each person has been cultivating each other's gardens in a warm but loose relationship, by teaching them the recipes they know, making side dishes, sharing them, and talking about their childhood memories related to crops.
In fact, there was no role given to each person because there was no reason for someone to take responsibility for harvesting, but there were invisible but busy touches to the plants that were moved by time zone every morning for fear of sunburn. Seeing the habits of participants formed by taking care of the art museum's livelihood for such a long time permeate the garden one by one, I knew that this garden was not the only one they had taken care of with affection. Whenever they saw it, they were all gardens where they could take care of the white cube and the neatly arranged art museum corridor.
Sitting in the garden, thinking about what makes you sprout and bear fruit. I look at the invisible people in the art museum, one of the most important places to see. Even if it is not active solidarity, the loose interest in caring and sharing each other supports and maintains our lives. This world you see is returning to its 'maintenance' power.
