Exhibition Information
Project Space Yeongdeungpo will host Hong Kiha's solo exhibition "Vanilla" from January 20 to February 7, 2021. Hong Gi-ha, who is deeply exploring the concept and essence of sculpture, uses the meanings inherent in the word "Vanilla" to create conditions for his foundation not to return the time of continuous, labor-intensive sculpture to a plain, boring vanilla flavor. "I threw myself the training of the name Vanilla. It began to find answers to various questions about sculpture. What is the sculpture of this era? Why won't big and heavy pieces be born anymore? Is the urethane foam a sculpture? What will become a sculpture after styrofoam and heatwave? Who does the sculptor refer to? Is there a time when sculpture can be more serious than modernist times? Is it possible to make a nice piece without giving up on your health? Is a piece of labor involved worth more than it does not? Is 'cute' a piece a compliment or a demeanor? How should the color of the sculpture be different from the color of the painting? How can my sculpture look less feminine? Is this the dark ages of sculpture?" - Arist's note.
