Exhibition Information

The Suwon Museum of Art will hold its first exhibition "A New Way to Live" from February 10 to June 20, 2021. It is a contemporary art theme exhibition that focuses on the relationship between things (materials) and humans in modern society, and 11 artists (team) including Kim Na-young & Gregory Mars, Joo Juhwan and Choi Byungso will participate.

In the early 20th century, Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968) overturned the definition of art with the concept of "Readymade", which places ordinary everyday objects in an artistic context and gives new meaning. After Duchamp's "Readymade", new interpretations and attempts at things in the realm of art became important. This exhibition, "The New Way in which ( ) lives", is created to fit the life of this era and transformed into a new way of living in large and small changes. It will be an opportunity to expand awareness and thinking about things by considering the characteristics of "things" in modern society around their relationship with "humans" and discovering the interface between daily life and art. In addition, we hope to provide the pleasure of experiencing a new system of objects in this era, which contains various traces connected to human life and finding various images of objects that can be included in the title of this exhibition.

This exhibition hopes that the Corona-19 will be a place to rediscover daily life through new changes like today's unfamiliar and that it will be an opportunity to revisit the meaning and value of contemporary art in the era of social and environmental change.
