Exhibition Information

This is the solo exhibition of Chung Sang Hwa (1932-), a representative painter of modernism in Korea. In spite of being a major artist in the emergence of Korean monochromatic painting, We would like to show the world of work of an artist who needs to be re-established in art history due to his long stay abroad and activities. The purpose of this study is to trace his active activities in Korea during the nine years in Kobe, Japan, from 1977 to 1992, and then in Korea, and to examine the transition and context of his early work from Informel to monochromatic work. do. Through this, we will proceed to identify and fill in the gaps found in Korean art history. In addition to painting using pigments, the artist's status is confirmed and reevaluated through various techniques used by the artist such as printmaking, framing, and drawing, as well as the creative world of work.
