The repetitive work of covering the painted base with another medium produces a result of overlapping layers of different textures and densities. To borrow the words of the artist, this is an act of <build up time>. By deconstructing the image that forms a fault for a designated completion, it opposes the universal pictoriality and exposes the <process> of painting to the surface. Kim's paintings acquire contemporaneity through the coexistence of the past and the present, while raising questions about the <complete> painting that has been discussed in art history through formal experiments.
