  • Gallery Hyundai will hold an exhibition of the two great masters of Korean painting - Chongjeon and Sojeong. While inheriting the traditions of Joseon Dynasty masters such as Cheongjeon and Sojeong, Danwon, it is regarded as a monumental masterpiece of Korea's modern art history by creating an original painting style. The exhibition, which showcases representative works ranging from the early works of the two painters to those completed in their later years, is a meaningful place to meet the works of the two masters, who have rarely been able to appreciate in one place.

Gallery Hyundai's main building consists of 50 representative works by Lee Sang-beom (1897-1972), a teacher of the modern Oriental Painting Company, who has completed Korean arithmetic by establishing an original Cheongjeon style. A variety of paintings featuring beautiful Korean mountain villages will be displayed, including <Seoraksan Mountain> in 1946 and <Gowon Moorim>, which was featured at the 17th Korean Art Exhibition. Also in this exhibition, <Hiocheonguro> made in 1945 will be unveiled for the first time. The students of Shimjeon Ahn Jung-sik and Sorim Cho Seok-jin, who were the best painters of the late Joseon Dynasty, showed their outstanding performance in the field of acidification, participated in the production of an auxiliary wall painting of Changdeokgung Palace at a young age and won awards and special prizes at the Joseon Art Exhibition. Cheongjeon harmonizes Eastern and Western painting styles, hones its own brushwork and silence, and creates an original Cheongjeon style. Cheongjeon's work, which expresses the images of mountains, trees, rocks, and streamers and farmers and Anak in a Korean flavor, still makes us feel the gentle touches and sensations of the Korean landscape paintings.

Gallery Hyundai Shingwan-sik (1899-1976) is composed of 50 representative works of artist Sojung Byun Kwan-sik (1899-1976), who has been wandering through the mountains and streams of Korea all his life and portrays the atmosphere in a dynamic style of painting. There will be great works depicting the scenic beauty of Mt. Geumgang, such as <Naegeumgang Bodeok Cave> and <Naegeumgang Pearl Dam>, as well as <Oegeumgang Samseonam Chasing>, which were exhibited in 1977 at the European Tour of Korean Painting. Sojung is the grandson of famous painting artist Sorim Cho Seok-jin and has shown extraordinary talent in painting since childhood. He was recognized as a representative artist of Korean painters by serving as a candidate, special selection, recommended writer, and judge in representative exhibitions of Joseon art exhibitions and the Korea Art Exhibition. In the early days, we used a typical ink painting style based on the sound of our maternal grandfather, but later, we developed modern arithmetic by moving beyond the concept of living in the West and pursuing the reality scene based on the basis of the concept of living in the West. Sojung is known as the artist who presented a new era of Korean painting with a previously unknown composition, realistic lines and witty strokes.

We hope that this exhibition will revitalize the Korean art scene and promote the beauty and beauty of Korean paintings both at home and abroad.
