Exhibition Information
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (CEO Yoon Beom-mo) will hold a exhibition of art pieces from 2017-2018 at the MMCA Gwacheon 1-won exhibition hall from March 21 (mok) to September 1. The exhibition showcases 150 works collected by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art over the past two years that have relatively no history of exhibition among major contemporary artists in Korea and abroad, including Lee Joong-sup, Lee Eung-no, Ha Jong-hyun, Yang Hye-kyu, Park Chan-kyung and Hans Hake. The National Museum of Contemporary Art has collected works through long-term, medium- and long-term and annual planning and has continued the quantitative and qualitative growth of its collections. In 2017 and 2018, he conducted the collection with an emphasis on Korean modern and Asian art, especially in the fields of photography and new media. Currently, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art has a total of 8,382 pieces. In this exhibition, the company will provide an audio guide service that delivers stories related to the production and collection process through the voices of academicians, writers and bereaved family members. It takes a lot of process and effort from officials before a piece is housed in an art museum and opened to visitors. Visitors can listen to episodes related to the journey and work until the work is housed in the museum through audio guide, along with appreciation of the work. The exhibition hall will consist of three spaces: "forest," "room," and "trip," based on the media and age of each collection. In "The Forest," you can hear stories such as the experiences of academicians meeting with writers and the impressions of the first time you see a piece. He will meet works by Ahn Kyu-chul, Yang Hye-kyu, Hans Hake and Yokomijo Shikka. In "Bang," he presents works by important artists in Korean history, including Yuk Myung-sim, Han Young-soo and Kim Young-man, and delivers vividness of the moment when the episode and work were taken at the time of the shooting. The book will consist of artifacts, designs and new media collections, including modern Asian paintings. It will showcase collections of Byun Wol-ryong, Lee Joong-sup, Lee Hyun-bae and Jang Wook-jin, which represent Korea's modern flower beds. "The 2017-2018 Exhibition of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will be an opportunity for visitors to listen to the stories in the works and familiarize themselves with various collections of the museum through audio guide," said Yoon Beom-mo, director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
