			Gallery 508 is pleased to announce Djamel Tatah’s first solo exhibition in Korea, who has been vigorously creating artworks as a representative artist in modern French conceptual painting. 

Born in France in 1959, he graduated from Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Etienne and now teaches at the Ecole Nationale Suprieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris as a professor. He has earned his place in the international stage with his unique technique of figure paintings in color through modern interpretation and composition of his works rooted in Western traditional paintings from Rembrandt, Poussin, to Matisse.

The motto of Tatah’s work is solitary men surrounded by silent space. Through solitary self-portraits painted in silent space removed of any noise, he expresses people’s psychology of feeling alienated more deeply and widely as the modern society gets entangled with complexity.

”My painting is silent. Imposing silence on chaos of life is almost like making a political statement. It allows one to step back and examine one’s relationship to others and to society as a whole”.

Djamel Tatah’s first solo exhibition in Korea showcasing his recent artworks on large canvasses will be held from July 7th to September 16th.
