			P21 will end 2023 with the solo exhibition Single Perspective Limit by Kimchi and Chips, marking their first commercial gallery show. The exhibition will center on a new series of wall hanging opto­kinetic artworks titled Optical Rail. Each edition contains a uniquely designed, calculated and produced pattern which becomes animated by a motorised train of glass lenses that pass repeatedly over it. The patterns are produced using a mix of acrylic paint, laser etching, UV printing and pencil. A catalogue of the 22 works is available upon request.

The works are a playful and thoughtful twist on Kimchi and Chips' meticulous style. The artists consider how the Op Artists combined multiple disciplines to discuss an emerging type of neurological spectacle, using the engine of sight to power kinetic drawings, revealing time to be a sensation and not always as a linear sequence. Optical Rail employs the visual distortion of moving lenses to decrypt a layer of time within static images, transliterating the motionless into the motion-ful. The lenses act like a convolutional filter from deep neural networks, allowing the artists to superimpose kinetic happening within static graphic compositions. The show will also include retrospective elements from Kimchi and Chips' large scale works.

Additionally, the exhibition will feature a reworking of the work REWORLD. Within the context of Single Perspective Limit this work further explores and expand upon the themes established in Optical Rail. The artwork comprises thousands of dynamic lenses that intricately capture tangible spaces, objects, individuals, and ambient light, resulting in the formation of mosaic-like images. The lenses, in constant motion, respond to natural variables like weather and time, dynamically altering the tonal composition of the imagery with each passing moment. This dynamic interplay creates a visually captivating experience, where the artwork continuously adapts and evolves, reflecting the ever-changing elements of its surroundings in real-time.
