Exhibition Information
Lee Eugean Gallery is delighted to present a group exhibition titled, <Ddeul eh git deul (Nest in a garden)>’ opening on the 6th until the 28th of December, featuring works by 22 young craft artists active in craft scene both at home and abroad. In this year’s craft exhibition, which was curated as a series to last year’s show under the theme of ‘Home’, visitors will expect to see more than 120 craftworks that interpret various elements of ‘Dduel’ meaning garden, including objects and plants, animals, or natural phenomena, according to the individual characteristics of each artist. The garden ‘Ddeul’ as the main concept of this exhibition could be a familiar space in our memories or a place to rest for modern people. It might be an abstract space where you have no idea when and where it was, yet it is filled with someone’s memories or imagination and stories. It could also be a living, breathing space that circulates with the various living creatures that coexist there. As part of a sculptural art, craftmanship deals with a wide range of materials, including ceramics, metal, paint, timber, textiles and glass, while Korean craft artists are recognized worldwide for their highly sophisticated techniques and fresh ideas. In particular, we adopted the spatial characteristics of our exhibition space, which is a renovated living house, by collaborating with Song Young-sun, the florist of Palmer Flower in order to give more variety to this show. The Pureun Cultural Foundation and Lee Eugean gallery are celebrating the end of the year with sponsorship to the young Korean craft artists. <Ddeul eh git deul> highlights the new value of craft arts so it is a very meaningful event for these talented young artists as well. We hope that this group exhibition, which especially encompasses their dreams and memories of ‘Ddeul’, will help the audience to expand and discover the meaning and nature of craftmanship in our contemporary lives.
