  • "I've been working with a keen interest in the body.
    Drawing lines was also body-related.
Painting is the whole process of dotting and drawing lines on a plane." said Lee Gun-yong

The exhibition will be held from December 12, 2019 to January 20, 2020, with a private exhibition that offers a glimpse into the world of Lee Gun-yong's works.

A total of 50 works, including paintings, drawings, photographs, videos and installation works, from 1988 to the latest one, will also be staged as well as a unique performance art performance by Lee Gun-yong. Along with the sound of the author's breath, visitors can enjoy the infinite private space that the writer's body portrays.

Writer Lee Gun-yong led the Space and Time Art Institute (ST) since the late 1960s.He took the initiative in participating in the group and led the avant-garde and experimental trends of the time. He participated in the Paris Biennale in 1973 and the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1979, and represented Korean art in the 1970s. It houses works at various art institutions and leading galleries at home and abroad, including the Samsung Museum of Art Leeum, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, the Seoul Museum of Art, the Lakovsky Collection in Dallas, the United States, and the Tate Museum in London, England.

Writer Lee Gun-yong puts his hands forward behind canvases or canvas to make dots or draw lines, expressing the infinite world's private process that the writer himself cannot predict. The process of every act connected to the body itself is recorded as a result of the work. The writer's body becomes a tool and itself an exercise and a reason. It is the unconscious cause of the body itself that a writer paints something. Where the body is located, the body moves itself through time and space, and it only remains the source of the art through an endless process of infinite repetition. The artist himself became the mastermind of the work, spreading questions and answers about the nature and origin of art in space and time to record the reasons for his body. The simple act of painting dots and drawing lines leads to the essence and source of art, showing humility and respect toward nature and the world. The world of works by Lee Gun-yong, who has led to his avant-garde and experimental spirit, is still passionately underway.
