			Introduction
The National Asian Cultural Center, in cooperation with the German Cultural Center in Korea, will hold <Migration: Speaking Nearby> from Nov. 23, 2019 to Feb. 23, 2020.
How can we see and understand the various aspects and circumstances of migration that characterize contemporary society, the resulting social and cultural changes and their diversity and complexity?
How can we approach and talk about the topic of migration through visual arts?
Starting from this ceremony, the exhibition will be the last leg of the "Migration Narratives in East and Southeast Asia" project, which began with the initiative of the German Cultural Center and began in 2018. Based in nine Asian cities (Seoul, Gwangju, Beijing, Hong Kong, Ulaanbaatar, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta), nine curators and 21 team writers have developed projects on migration in the open process of exchange and connection. Introducing the results through this exhibition, I propose diverse perspectives and approaches on the multilayered and complex aspects and situations of migration, focusing on East Asia and Southeast Asia.

An Essay on Migration Proposed by Nine Asian Curators and 21 Team Writers
In an interview with Trin T. Minh-ha, a film producer, writer, composer and scholar, the English title of the exhibition "Speaking Nearby" means an indirect statement that reflects on the subject and the subject itself without objectifying them and that they can come very close to the subject. The exhibit subpoenas this concept, which reflects the complex reflection of Trin T's cinematic reproduction, as a key concept encompassing the diverse perspectives, ways and attitudes of participating curators and writers to approach the subject of migration. In this regard, the exhibition proposes the works presented here as a multilayered, multi-platinum migration, "Speaking in Kagai," and hopes that this multi-sex speech will continue and spread through audience participation.
