Exhibition Information
<TRAHERE artist’s self-portrait> is derived from the Latin word for portrait Like "Trahere," which means "get out, get out," Seo Yong-sun, Yoo Geun-taek and Choi Jin-wook, invited to the exhibition, introduce self-portrait works that draw on their inner self-portraits, and at the same time show their concern as artists and their communities. The self-portrait in the work represents the individual face of the artist, but at the same time, it represents the face of all of us who live in the present. I hope this will be a meaningful time to think about how you understand yourself as a sissy today, when you can't even afford to look back on me. Seo Yong-sun is a artist who works on himself, on the streets, and on historical figures with heavy penmanship and strong color. He reveals his identity as a writer in a variety of ways, including a five-meter-long masterpiece "Self-portrait" (2017), a drawing series that sketches self-portraits every day, and a self-portrait that is roughly carved into a tree. Yoo Geun-taek is a writer who studies the contemporary expressions of Oriental painting by applying the Ji Pil-muk of traditional Oriental painting to various media. He reveals himself through a self-portrait of a heavy Korean paper, including "Standing at the End" (2018), in which he lives as a painter. Choi Jin-wook is a writer who works on the absurdities and political content of society through everyday scenes. Starting with "The Beginning of Painting (1990), he uses himself as a painter who paints and expresses himself working in a studio, the scene of his own life.
