  • New World Fantasia
an exotic artist meets the new world.
"<New World Fantasia> is the way to find me and you, our identity in the 21st century.
Fantasy is a precious map of finding this path, not a meaningless dream."

My journey across Europe and Asia over the past few years has been a period of continuous cross-border "frequently cross the frontier" Sometimes the geographical border, sometimes the border of civilization and religion. What is civilization and the superiority of civilization have come to question. Where am I now? Who am I facing? Questions deepened as the border and civilization traversed various boundaries. I often spy on the strange world and the unfamiliar. Sometimes they looked at the existence of psychologists, sometimes anthropologists or geographers, and followed the traces of the Earth and humans. I wanted to know how people in foreign countries live and where their identities come from.
Walking through a strange new world, I often fell into one fantasy or another. In the dream, Portugal, North Atlantic, the New World, has a horizontal plane, not a horizontal line. I saw a woman go up to the sky by a whale on a level surface. The Sahara in North Africa saw the sea, the universe, and the soft baby hips, not the desert. In the Carpathia Mountains of Romania, he met silly but close and pathetic Dracula with flying Byzantine-style angels, Hungarian but Romanian friend Noemi who attended graduate school together in London, and saw a naive girl riding on a horse on an immeasurable white grave in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Can I simply say that there is no such thing as a phantasmagoria in which I have seen it? If a human being lives in his or her own fantasy, isn't this how the fantasy is real? The New World Fantasy is a fantasy of a new world faced across the boundaries of geography and civilization, and a search for who you are and who I am, who I did not know about as a foreigner artist, ultimately standing across from you. As an artist, the most beautiful, multilayered, old-fashioned question or subject is" Who am I? Who are you? Who are we after all? I wonder if that's a question.
My illusions about the New World are strangely enticing to the existence of outer space. Aliens' identity also comes from the past. This is why I have woven my fantasy of the 21st century into not only digital images, which are modern civilization, but also the past legacy of tapestry. To me, tapestries are mediums that symbolize the beautiful civilization of the past. The tapestry method of painting by combining different images while sewing raw silk and thread is similar to the way I work. They don't use color room, but they draw small pictures individually and combine them into one big picture. Besides, you can always pull out tapestries!
<New World Fantasia> is not the end of this exhibition. It is a true story of mine that will continue to be a mixture of real and fictitious worlds like the "Arabian Night." I am Seherazade, but you are not the king who wants to hurt me, but the king who has a desire for the New World. <New World Fantasia> begins with a meeting with an ordinary man made of iron, passes all over the New World and finally meets an alien in front of the exit. This is a 21st century myth that I imagined and drew on the medium of civilization in the past.
I want to be an artist who looks at the present through the past and paints myths of the future. In this exhibition, he brought up only a few of a thousand stories. The New World menstruation unfolds before you in my dream. You're a great new world, you never knew.
