Dubbed the Father of Modern Foster, Toulouse Lautrek is a French artist who sharply portrays the life style of Bohemian in Paris with the stage of Montmartre, the streets of art, and Moulin Rouge, the symbol of night culture, in the late 19th century. Posters, lithographs, drawings, sketches, illustrations and watercolors, and photographs and videos of Lottrek, which will be introduced to the exhibition, will guide visitors to Paris in the late 19th century. The Toulouse Rotrek exhibition is the first solo exhibition of the Rotrek in Korea, featuring 150 works owned by Herakledon Museum in Athens, Greece, and the first of its kind to be unveiled in Korea. The exhibition has been on a tour in Greece, the U.S. and Italy since 2007, and is the 14th exhibition in Seoul, offering not only Lottrek’s works of art, but also videos and media art that introduce him to his dramatic life, and his illustrations that drew everyone’s attention at the time, as well as children and adults alike.
