Exhibition Information
Exhibitions give us insight into the fluid identity that we are currently experiencing. The exhibition title "Wavering Map" means a wobbly map, suggesting the imperfections of the scales we believe to be accurate. In modern society, location and space are valued according to productivity or land value. In human life, a person's value is determined by his or her job or position. However, there are others who cannot be valued at such a clear value. One of them is artist who resides outside of firmly defined locations and presents different measures. Writers tell us that clear points are also located on the premise of changing relationships in time. Writers Kwak Eun-ji and Kim Kyung-han visualizes that relationship between human relations and roles through the pictorial elements and writer Park So-hyeon use the visual effects of light and object in space and writer Lee Woo-soo symbolically visualizes the points of relationship by interesting sounds, words and recall time. Each piece does not stay in one complete system, but relates to other works, spaces, audiences, time, environment, and so on. So they create a new meaning at every moment. The meaning constituting in complex relationships have no hierarchy, no center and nothing remains unchanged. In this way, the works show the relationship as a system that changes in time, not as a fixed system, revealing the imperfections of the solid standards that are used while also reflecting on the individual values of individuals who create the relationship.
